Right! <bang> Topic marker, of course. Sorry. I still think it's '-neun', i.e. -/nMn/, but transliteration schemes vary. Are you sure about -/nun/ or is it a different romanisation?

Ah. I think in the same way, there's an alternative topic marker for consonantal endings. '-ga' is the same as in Japanese then. (But I'm also very doubtful about a common ancestor language.) **Henrik
