The other point of view, of course, is found in Johann Peter Hebel's classic story "Kannitverstan". I took a boat ride in the Netherlands once, and noticed that the scenery was being described in Dutch, English, French, and German in that order: by the time the German version was being spoken, the boat had invariably moved on past whatever was being described. So all the Germans had to face aft.... -- John Cowan <jcowan@...> http://www.reutershealth.com I amar prestar aen, han mathon ne nen, http://www.ccil.org/~cowan han mathon ne chae, a han noston ne 'wilith. --Galadriel, _LOTR:FOTR_
