Funny you should mention that you mention that, because I'll have an
independent study next semester, too, working on Skerre, essentially
designed to give me credit for something I'd be working on anyway. Also,
some five years ago in eighth grade, with my language months old, I engaged
with a very interesting project with the G/T teacher. Over the course of
year, she evaluated my language and my conculture (in hindsight she didn't
do a good job, but she didn't know what she was doing-it didn't matter,
things are completely different now), and then we (several other students
and I) wrote and performed a play in my language for most of the school
(Subtitles were provided on overheads). The audience was at least courteous,
although talking with people that saw the play (much later) I learned that
people didn't get much out of the play (Common complaint: they couldn't read
the subtitles). But I guess I've had enough people take me seriously in my
conlang career that I have never felt this to be a secret vice, and I
learned to blow off people that aren't taking me seriously.
