And I just remembered another meaning for that verb: "to put up a
struggle/defend yourself/etc. by singing". As an example, if someone
turned up their radio really loud and you tried to hold your own or
put up a fight by singing loud enough to drown them out, you could say
that "ich versuchte, dagegen anzusingen".
