I think this constitutes an on-topic OT post:
While on the subject-- I believe the fine old French/Norman? name Beaulieu
is pronounced ['bjuli]-- enough to curl a Frenchperson's toes. There is a
Calif. vineyard of the same name, but I've never heard it pronounced.
And am I correct that "Featherstonehaugh" (or similar) is pronounced
['f&nSO] ? Where does that leave plain old Featherstone?
There is of course, the old joke about ['nIfl=z] , i.e. Niagara Falls.
