This morning, on my way to work, I already saw a few gas stations that
were selling 98 octane gas for 1.50 or even 1.51 EUR per liter. :-P
Funnily enough, gas stations that are right across the street from
each other may still have quite different prices.
I've heard on the news that the authorities had expected a rush on
cheap Russian gas in the border regions, but so far, this hasn't
happened. (This may of course have something to do with the lack of
border-crossing roads in the Finnish-Russian border region. ;)
I do expect, though, that my friends in SW Germany will continue
buying much of their gas in Luxembourg (which is almost "just around
the corner" for them anyway) -- according to the Aral webpages for the
two countries, a liter of gas (any type) is about 20 cents cheaper in
Luxembourg than in Germany. (Last month, when I was there, the
difference was something like 4 cents per liter.) I expect it'll be
similar for other brands.
Anyway, yet another reason for me not to get a car (the main reason
still being that I live in an area with pretty good public transport,
at least in the areas and at the times that I need).
ObConlang: Here are some sounds that are difficult to produce if they
don't occur in your native language, that are suddenly *much* easier
when looking at the current gas prices (given in SAMPA): [{]
(different vowel than "eww", but same meaning), [R] (trying not to
gag), [>\_}] (failing miserably and gagging anyway). ;-)
Regards,
Julia
