Well, there are some programs that create random roots. I know some
people here use them. I prefer to come up with roots on my own.
Sometimes I'll take random words or pieces of words from foreign songs,
best if the meaning of the original has nothing to do with the new word
(e.g., _nakanai_ "promise", was taken from Japanese _nakanai_ "won't
cry", which was in a song I was listening to when I came up with the
word). Another possibility, which works especially good in a
Semetic-style conlang, is to take the letters in license plates, adding
random vowels.
