Actually the more crucial distinction for [s] and [T] is apical vs. laminal
(or tounge tip vs. tongue blade, in Anglo-Saxon :-). Swedish definitely
has an apico-dental /s/ -- pronouncing it laminally is to have that speech
defect called lisping -- while Icelandic distinguishes between
apicoalveolar _s_ /s/ and laminoalveolar _þ_ /T/. Basque has the same
distinction between apicoalveolar _s_ and laminoalveolar _z_.
