This refers to a particular beating; it doesn't mean that tomorrow there

The present tense of the verb makes me think it must be "children like
books", though this sentence could perhaps be contrasted with
A los niños les gustan libros.

There are two different Castillian words that translate into
Engl. "farmers": "granjeros" and "hacienderos". If those girls really knew
where the money is, they would be in love with hacienderos...
And the granjeros are male; those girls aren't lesbian.
