Partial Babel Text (Gen 11:1-6)

This is 2 thirds of the usual Babel Text in ea-luna. I just
haven't gotten around to doing the last third. It more or
less follows the KJV, for better or worse.

This will probably be the last I post of ea-luna. I am
retiring it. I intend to pick over all my projects and
sketches for ideas and start something new. There's a lot
that I know now that I didn't know then, and I can't bear to
tear ea-luna apart to "fix" the things that I would have
done differently. I'd rather start over. And so I will.

1 Ema luna ena iwa dati malu raka wude.
2 Ua ia ema bike gau gene lile, ema kada lile karu ie
Tinaru, ua ema tabu lile ie dati.
3 Ua ema guti gia puga lile, ma alu lale meda ua ma nale
lire lile. Ema ata lile meda ena buru ua rele ena deikugi.
4 Ua ema guti lile, ma reti lale uwu ua bapu ge dupu ie pade
ea-mata, ua ma kidi mige lale, piu ewe ide buka aga ea-raka
lale.
5 Ua ema neba ea-Nabi piu lepa li ea-uwu ua ea-bapu ge ema
reti ea-diwe.
6 Ua ema guti ea-Nabi, ma lepa! iwa puga ea-diwe, ua ata
lile iwa luna dati; ua nebe ali lile bagu.: limi, ate ali
lile malu ge bebu ali lile.

I know that the formatting of the following isn't right so
it makes it a little hard to sort out what's what, but here
it is anyway:

(GENES 11:1) And the whole earth was of one language, and
of one speech.

ema luna ena iwa dati malu raka wude
(PAST) Speak as one same all world whole

(GENES 11:2) And it came to pass, as they journeyed from
the east, that they found a plain in the land of Shinar; and
they dwelt there.

Ua ia ema bike gau gene lile, ema kada lile karu ie Tinaru,
ua ema tabu lile ie dati.
And (at a point in time that) (PAST) journey away-from east
they, (PAST) found they plain at Shinar, and (PAST) dwell
they at same.

(GENES 11:3) And they said one to another, Go to, let us
make brick, and burn them thoroughly. And they had brick
for stone, and slime had they for morter.

Ua ema guti gia puga lile, ma alu lale meda ua ma nale lire
lile. Ema ata lile meda ena buru ua rele ena deikugi.
And (PAST) say among together them, (IMPERATIVE) make we
bricks and (IMPERATIVE) fire to the largest extent them.
(PAST) have they brick as stone and tar as mortar.

(gia puga -- among together, is idiomatic.)

(GENES 11:4) And they said, Go to, let us build us a city
and a tower, whose top may reach unto heaven; and let us
make us a name, lest we be scattered abroad upon the face of
the whole earth.

Ua ema guti lile, ma reti lale uwu ua bapu ge dupu ie pade
ea-mata, ua ma kidi mige lale, piu ewe ide buka aga ea-raka
lale.
And (PAST) say they, (IMPERATIVE) build we city and tower
that reach(es) to the sky the top, and (IMPERATIVE) seek
remembrance we, so-that (NEG.)(FUTURE) scatter on the world
us.

(GENES 11:5) And the LORD came down to see the city and
the tower, which the children of men builded.

Ua ema neba ea-Nabi piu lepa li ea-uwu ua ea-bapu ge ema
reti ea-diwe.
And (PAST) come the Lord so-that see he* the city and the
tower that (PAST) built the people.

(* li is epicene 3rd person.)

(GENES 11:6) And the LORD said, Behold, the people is one,
and they have all one language; and this they begin to do:
and now nothing will be restrained from them, which they
have imagined to do.

Ua ema guti ea-Nabi, ma lepa! iwa puga ea-diwe, ua ata lile
iwa luna dati; ua nebe ali lile bagu.: limi, ate ali lile
malu ge bebu ali lile.
And (PAST) say the Lord, (IMPERATIVE) see! one together
the-people, and have they one language same; and begin [to]
do they this: now, able [to] do they all that imagine [to]
do they.
