Re: How did you find out that there were other conlangers?

I had a really weird way into conlanging. Ever since the age of 4 I have
been interested (obsessed) by the stars, and so at age 7 learned the Greek
alphabet (it's used in astronomy). From there I progressed to Greek itself
(gave up quickly!) but decided it would be nice to have a language that
"looked Greek" but wasn't. In the beginning this was just a code, but soon
progressed, and changed alphabets back to Roman.
My first real conlang was Germanic (about age 10-12). I had no contact with
Tolkien until about age 25, by which time I knew Welsh, so Sindarin
immediately looked like a language created by someone who wanted it to look
"More Welsh than Welsh" and there was an immediate identification with my
youthful efforts. I'm afraid things like Esperanto and Interlingua chilled
my very marrow.
