Blizzard is to snowstorm as hurricane is to rainstorm, more or less. Stronger
winds and more likely to kill you than a generic storm. (Though the actual
speed of the winds in a blizzard don't usually reach hurricane levels, the
cold and nastier kinds of precipitation make up for it.)
Every blizzard is a snowstorm, but not all snowstorms are blizzards.
