Thanks. Some things just worked out well, like fly. Mangani actually has some interesting properties. Burroughs studied Greek and Latin in high school, so he did have a handle on parts of speech, roots, suffixes, and prefixes, and he clearly used this knowledge in constructing langauges. Often times he appears not to have been too concerned with consistencey though. He named one character Korak and translated this as "the killer". The only translation from syllables that I could make out was ko-rak, "mighty yes", which means that to kill is to affirm mightily, a bit of a metaphoric stretch, but one that actually fits with the character of the mangani as violent primates. pete coogan __________________________________ Yahoo!
