Thank you all for your numerous responses on my post.
As I already said, I am considering a revision of the Germanech syntax,
and indeed I am considering a V2 rule for main clauses and a verb-final
rule for subordinate clauses. And regarding OVS order, this is of
course
possible in a SVO language without cases when the semantics gives it
away that the first NP must be the object. A sentence like
_Il leiber non legev Anna_
can only be interpreted in an OVS way, because it is poeple who read
(or don't read) books and not the other way round: if the NP before the
verb is inanimate, it is most likely the object. It should also be
possible with matrix verbs (verbs that take clauses as objects);
however, _Il hom mordev il can_ is ambiguous, and _Marje amez Paul_
means "Mary loves Paul" and NOT "Paul loves Mary".
The syntax I posted was rather haphazardly cobbled together after
the models of French and Brithenig (the latter minus its Celticisms,
of course, which resulted in something very much like French)
as I needed a workable version for the relay while syntax is
indeed my weak spot. Having Germanicisms in the syntax as well as
in the phonology and morphology is indeed a good idea.
Jörg.
