impressionistic spelling of [dOg ~dQg].  I can indeed imagine that [da_wg]
or some such occurs, probably in Deep, Deep Southern.....:-)

Amusingly, I've begun to see "dawg" in various pop environments-- rap and
associated printed commentaries; and a guy in the porn industry who calls
himself Damon Dawg.
