First, let me also welcome Vasiliy (Basilius) and Markus
to the List.

Sometimes not fully understood, maybe,
but "boring"? _Never_! :-)

Me too! I've suffered from lowered grades because of it
many times! That I still remember after all these years
says something! :-P
Nowadays, I still come across prescriptive linguistics
here in Israel when our language academy tries to pressure
us into adopting one of their new formulations into our daily
Hebrew speech. But unlike my school days, here the people
wield the power of choice. If we all like the proposed new
item, it becomes part of the language; if we don't, we simply ignore
the academy and continue to use whatever we were previously
using! :-)
