I would tend to think of it that way, yes. :-p What Korean does using the topic particle (there's that pesky term again), English speakers tend to do by stressing the appropriate word (e.g. "*Mary* killed the wombat" vs. "Mary *killed* the wombat" vs. "Mary killed the *wombat*"). Or at least I do. It may work differently in other languages, and I'm certainly no expert. YHL
