I usually just borrow words from English (or whatever human language is
appropriate), the same as if I were talking about Switzerland or Ian
=46leming; I'd just borrow the name. One example is "Beaptest" (a =
phonetic
equivalent of "Baptist") from a newspaper headline I translated into
Jarrda. Most of my fictional speakers have little or no knowledge of
present-day Earth and its religions. It would be interesting, though, to
incorporate parts of the ancient Egyptian religion into various alien
languages (with the premise that the Egyptian gods really were aliens!) =
