Are you aware of whether you ever mistook the two languages for one? I was
attempting to understand what one of my nextdoor neighbours was saying
(he's about three or four, I think), and he seemed to be unable to tell
the difference between English and the other language he spoke (and other
confusions were there too, like the fact that, like many his age, he was
calling a cat a `dog' (when our cat came outside he pointed to it and said
`dog!'), and he used the words `grinka' /"gPIN:kA/ and `rekkala'
/"rEkkAlA/ to mean `green' and `red', although these are obviously
derived).
