I only took 2 semesters of Japanese, and i don't remember learning "eh"
(which is how i would probably spell it)... i remember learning something
like |~kara ~ made| for "from ~ to ~".  I also have a habit of
transliterating the absorbed |y| in |jya|.  This is all because i never
really learned any standard transliteration scheme.  I did have to
memorize all of hiragana in one night, though :-P .
