Re: Naming the conlang

My a priori langs have all been crated name first.
For some of them the name has gone on to become a word
in the language with some meaning other than just the
name of the language, for others not.

Carrajena is my only a posteriori. It is a romance
language spoken in and around Carthage, hence the name
which translates as "Carthaginian". Most of the
national Romance langs and all the contiguous onse
have names attached to the lands where they are
spoken: French in the land of the Franks, Spanish in
Hispania, Italian in Italia, Provencial in Provance,
Catalan in Catalonia, Corsican in Corsica, Srdinian in
Sardinia, Sicilian in Sicily, Veneto in Venice,
Dalmatian in Dalmatia, Portuguese in Portugal.
Romanian, Romansch and Ladino are all spoke in areas
isolated from the other Romance languages.

When naming a Romance language I'd say figure out
where it is spoke and name it for the place --
properly mutated from the Latin (or whatever) to fit
the sound changes of the language.
