"Bored"? What's "bored"? Everything I do is
endlessly fascinating ... ;-)
Guess I'm more the obsessive type, as in 2).
But since I lack a single, overriding focus, I can
give myself a break from my current obsession
in one field by, you guessed it, switching to my
current obsession in another. So I usually have:
- a musical project,
- a visual arts project,
- a language project,
- a programming project,
- a gardening project,
- a fitness project,
- a home improvement project,
- etc,
all going on at once.
Tho I will drop any of those projects at a
moment's notice to write a poem; since those
take between 10 minutes and a couple of hours
to crystallise into their final forms, they're
something I can begin and end on the self-same
day.
Until my recent illness, this way of working has
let my subconcious solve all sorts of difficulties
in the other projects, whilst my conscious mind
focusses on a particular one, or even on real
(paid) work. Over the years, it's let me do much,
much more than I would otherwise have done.
(That, and my habit of not sleeping more than
4 or 5 hours a night - the extra hours are a real
boon to an obsessive!)
Regards,
Yahya
