I suppose I'm not crazy about the idea because I'm not crazy about
X-SAMPA to begin with. I use it, but only because it seems to be the
transcription lingua-franca around here. Trouble is, there aren't any
real alternatives right now, and I don't have the time or energy to
make up my own. I was intrigued by Herman Miller's system which was
introduced earlier in the summer, but I haven't tried to use it, and
I've been away all summer and was thus unable to be an advocate for it.
