Agreed; and aren't most messages in a modified
ASCIIfication anyway? I seem to recall that [&]
for ash and [@] for schwa aren't X-SAMPA?
It might be best to point out a page that
introduces the IPA, a page that introduces and
compares various ASCII-IPA schemes, and leave it
at that.
