I'd say:
Nik: Hey, Cindy. How's the baby?
Cindy: Quite fine, thanks.
David: Have you decided what the name will be? (or: Have you decided on
a name yet?)
Cindy: Shaun if it's a boy, Elizabeth if it's a girl
So, where possible, I'd avoid the pronoun issue altogether.
