Did you ever have a look at the 2 ongoing conlang games on alt.language.artificial
? I've been looking a while at how they were managing it. I think one project
gave up the majority decision system - because nobody could agree - and adopted
a role system with vetoes. The second project has planned the whole process
first, then shared it into units and alloted them to each player - or something
like that : it's quite elaborate anyway. Both have had to appoint a master to
settle arguments. Both ended up with a very strange and almost unpronounceable
phonology. I's amazing. This is because a same sound may apparently delight A's
ear and put B's in throes. So each player vetoed 'usual' sounds he could not
stand and forcibly backed his favorite 'special' sounds (clicks, bilabial
thrill, etc.). That's actually pleasantly original but I doubt any earthling
can ever pronounce these languages. And I doubt anyone can ever write them
either in case they build the syntax in the same wa!

However I guess this is the fun of doing it with fellows whatever the result
may be - and they seem to enjoy it very much.
