"padme" is "lotus"... "mani padme" means "jewel-lotus" and it is both
feminine and a locative.

it is Sanskrit. BTW the Tibetan version is 'Romanized' to _ Om mani pehme
hung_... _Om mani padme hum_ is a Buddhist mantra.
