I wouldn't assume outright that George Lucas is incapable of making
references to Sanskrit/Buddhism directly --- and to me, Naboo looks a
bit like Chinese/Japanese cultural elements on an Indian stock. On the
other hand, Amidala is suspiciously close to amygdala, which is
Greek/Latin for almond.
