There's "fear" and there's "fear"! One is
trepidation over possible outcomes; there's also
abject terror. I get the impression from the
description that the fear on their faces is more
of the latter. I think that would be incorrect.

I'm not sure I'd entirely agree with that! What
with a major Power just across your border that
is bent on your destruction.

Agreed. This is not how I understood the
description of the movie, though.
