Actually, "consonance" is just consonants. Alliteration is the agreement
of words in beginning with either the same consonant or no consonant.
In some languages, certain consonant clusters alliterate only with
themselves (e.g. sc st sp in OE, none at all in Old Saxon). "big black
block" is alliteration, "red reed rod" is consonance.
