Your point is well taken. One reason I wanted to use
clicks is because I like them ;-) the other is that it
fleshes out the phonology. In relation to their being
prey, they would also need a way to signal the Drushek
hiding behind yonder bush or rock in addition to
speaking quietly to the one hiding next to them.
Possibly this is why clicks continued to be used. They
would have been used sparingly at first, but, as the
language evolved and they became more organized into
large groups that could defend themselves, the clicks
became more common.

transcribing Drushek into English.
