I don't see it as a problem. After all, the word for "high" will have been
in existence for centuries before cars are invented (unless technology There
is way ahead of us!), and auto- is a learned borrowing from Greek. I.e.,
auto- words unrelated to <altus> would be very uncommon in ordinary speech
until the Industrial Age at least. Also, <auto> is Portuguese for "act," and
you don't hear them complaining!
