Let me be the first to forgive You, Ed. I myself haven't a clean
slate as far as off-the-wall postings go either. But we all have
our opinion.
Truly though, the message You replied to had nothing to do
with any sort of dislike of English. It was merely stating that
language-hood and language seperation could not be delayed
by merely writing things the same or very closely so and thus
making it look like (when written) that it is the same language.
Phoneticize British, Canadian, American, and Australian English
and actually even add Jamaican--the words, will bear but a slight
recognizability to each other. Perhaps no more than the Spanish-
Portugese discussed or Dutch-German or Yiddish-German/Yiddish-
Hebrew. On the last two I am not exactly going on hard-cold facts.
