Sounds like an article my sister (who is a linguist, specializing in
ancient Judeo-Greek hybrids) recently wrote about _na Ukraine_ vs _v
Ukraine_ in Russian political language.
I found it very funny.

It's pretty apt. _Secret Vice_ really sounds like a closeted gay man
trying to cruise and not being brave enough to follow through. :-P

Definitely so.
I'd say it's more apt as (0-1)same-sex, (0-1) opposite-sex, (0-1)
???-sex, and (0-1) sex[the activity]-per-se. Multiplied by experience,
preference, meta-preference, etc if you want. If you want to collapse
it into one thing, at least use the Kinsey scale of 0=het / 6=gay.
(The whole "is he gay or not" thing seems to come up every bloody time
someone public might be in a same-sex relationship... yeesh, can't
journalists ever stop to think "maybe he's bi"? Though it does make
for truthful [albeit only narrowly so] deniability when an yet another
anti-gay evanglist gets caught - they can say "I'm not gay!" and be
right. Oy. But I'm young enough to have grown up believing in
non-boolean identity [gender or sex wise] and not to have experienced
any gaybashing, so I can understand that people who haven't would be
more prone to think in terms of polarity.)
Personally I'm Kinsey variable 2-4 but currently have two boyfriends,
fairly androgynous, occasionally bearded, have contacts but not worn
glasses in years, US-born of naturalized Russians, and right-handed.
So I have no idea how many points that gives me.
