As I hear it, "forte" the musical term comes from the Italian and is pronounced /fOrtej/ or /fOrti/ (or /fOrtE/); "forte" the strong point comes from French and is (prescriptively) pronounced /fOrt/. Cheers, Philip -- Philip Newton <Philip.Newton@...>
