My point was that Greek words borrowed into English are stressed according
to Henninian principles, and that this had something to do with the
dominance of Henninian pronunciation. But I admit that it's an equally
good argument to say that they are Latinized rather than Henningized.

I think it would be very hard to dig out the pronunciation of Greek *formerly*
used in this country, particularly if it was long enough ago. After a while,
all the old Graecists are dead.
