Yeah. Actually, I saw a piece on (I think) German news a year ago
or so wherein there is a company that is trying to revive the
technology for shifting extremely heavy and bulky items. There is
apparently some promise.

Actually, not so much as you might expect. There is a lot of cultural
resistence (Comro don't appreciate a load of Yokels commin up to take
all the jobs; and Kerno often don't want to leave their country). The
east of Dunein, however, is much better off than the west - if by
"better off" you mean richer in money but more complicated in
lifestyle - as there are several military installations and a couple
of industrial areas.
