IMHO Chomsky should be forbidden to write: he should find someone to communicate his ideas to, viva voce (when he is invariably perfectly lucid, by all reports including mine) and then write them down for him and give them structure. (Kant shoulda had someone like this too.) The most accessible Chomsky book, bar none, is _Understanding Power_ (okay, it's about politics, not linguistics), precisely because it is composed of interviews. -- John Cowan jcowan@reutershealth.com http://www.reutershealth.com "Mr. Lane, if you ever wish anything that I can do all you will have to do will be to send me a telegram asking and it will be done."
