The verse stands as an epigraph in the title page of his "Opyt
sravneniya... ", with the Russian translation.
IIRC, the Russian gloss has "k zhilishchu ushedshikh" - 'to
(the) dwelling(-place) of those-who-are-gone'; no
'ancestors', at least literally.
