Well, French merde and Spanish mierda mean "shit", so I'm guessing Merde
means the same thing. I seem to remember reading something about
certain dialects geminating consonants that are single in the standard
dialect, including initial consonants, altho I forget the rules for it.
So, my guess is that this person's nickname is, for whatever reason,
"shit".
