but.... you asked for it:
Kash (very colloq.): hayi, kayini yalum-- ende, kanju mawuwi?
['haj, 'kajni ja'lum // EndE, 'kandZu ma'wi:]
Lit. yes, the-living licks, (otherwise the same)
However, this fails to convey the disagreeable/unpleasant connotations of
the Engl. "X sucks", since the Kash, like some Engl. speakers who indulge in
the practice, consider it quite pleasant.......
I wonder if Wm. Safire will ever investigate the origin of the phrase, in
his weekly NYTimes article.....
