I'm using Pine's built-in editor, which acts a lot like pico. On
my office machine, I can type O-u, u to get u-diaresis (which
seems to be standard for the Mac) but this is what happens at
home for the same keystrokes: . Also, there doesn't seem to be
any guarantee that, even when I type O-u, u for u-diaresis at
work, that that is what will show up when the message gets
posted to CONLANG.
I will definitely talk to the unix guru, but I don't think it
will help at home. I'll see what they say.
