Yeah, but Pierre Curie (from whom she took the name when she married to him)
was French, and they did all their research in France (and to be more exact, in
the very same school where I did my studies :)) . It's not for nothing that
some places in the school are still forbidden to visit. Radioactivity levels in
those places are still lethal ;)))) ). Believe me, Pierre Curie was *already* a
national pride before he had even met Marie Curie (he had already made quite a
few discoveries at that time :)) ).

But before that, the law *obliged* the wife to take the name of her husband. So
whatever they wanted to do, they would have had to change the law if the wanted
the name Curie to stay. Also, Frédéric wanted to wear the name Curie. After
all, that was a name to be proud of and he wanted to have it too :))) . It's a
case where the husband wanted to use the name of his wife :) .

LOL. I don't know yet what we're gonna do when Jan and I get married. We've
toyed with the idea of taking each other's name along with our own, but
whatever you do, Grandsire-Koevoets and Koevoets-Grandsire both sound rather
strange ;))))) .
