It's certainly true that there are an awful lot of linguists doing
something that isn't science (some of whom believe they *are* doing
science, and some of whom simply don't have science as one of their
objectives).
But I don't think it's true that linguistics is not a science. Theoretical
pluralism is prevalent throughout all areas of science, and the occasional
hegemonic interludes are generally brief.
