Now I diesagree with that - you can always tell (well, at least I have no trouble) the two apart. Agree that the recorder sounds nicer.

! I built (from a kit) a great bass rackett. It's like, 1 foot tall. ;))) Yet sounds a very nice CCC.

Yes, that's a thing that a lot of instrumentalists have in switching from a woodwind to piano. I started on piano and migrated to wind instruments from there, so did not encounter this problem. And was a good boost for organ, where you get three staves and two extra appendages in action.
