1. Uiama uses the causative ungendered singular of the verb "mb", "to be (essentially)": "umb turu" = "fiat lingua" = "let there be language" u-mb-ø-ø tu-ru cause-to_be_(essentially)-3ø-S sound-reach Uiama has four genders: MFNø. Since the creative command "cause to be (X)" is a "third-person" imperative for *no* person, the only appropriate gender is the null gender ø. The Singular number is marked by the absence of a number morpheme for Dual, Trial, paUcal or Plural number; or, as some are wont to say, by the presence of a zero morpheme.
