Could it be <tentative voice>tree</tentative voice>? But noooo, that's too easy. BTW, some of us have reported pronouncing Engl. /tr-/ as [tSr\]. I want to make this a substandard pronunciation of Kash /tr-/ (properly the r is trilled), but the release is definitely not palatal [S], but retroflex, apical s. Is that XSAMPA [s\] (IPA c-curl I think)....also the t is retroflexed, so is [t`s\r\] correct? It is meant to contrast with /c/ [tS], but could lead to confusion since /tra-/ forms negative un- forms, /ca-/ forms accidental verbs-- e.g. unfunny vs. wildly hilarious. Semantic maggelity! Also BTW, since updating to IE5, it seems I can receive Cyrillic and Greek and maybe Hebrew in emails (ever so useful...). Magic.
