And steal, steal, steal ! (Well, "borrow" or "learn from" might be
better terms).
You can usually view the source code of pages on your browser. On my
version of Netscape under the "View" menu there is the entry "Page
Source". IE has something similar but I don't remenber what its called.
Find a page with a layout you like and look at their code. Learn what
others ahve done to get nice results. Some pages, particularly comercial
sites, might have convoluted code that their designer can't even
understand. But nice clean pages (such as many of the language pages by
members of this list) should be easy to follow with the help of a basic
HTML tutorial.
Don't copy an entire site, that can lead to copyright problems, but look
at how people do certain things that you might like to adapt to your own
site.
