I'm with you on the Amharic writing system! In fact, I used its
design as the basis for the Tokana syllabic writing system: To
get an idea of the Tokana writing system, imagine a mixture of Runic
and Old Cyrillic characters disguised to look like Amharic and
written with a flat-nibbed pen by an Ethiopian scribe.
