English has an enormous vocabulary, yes. But, how much of that vocabulary actually has
a very specific nuance to it? Invariably, the word that "technically fits" has
an negative connotation that I don't wish attached to what I'm trying to say. A
listener may even stop listening if the word has too negative a connotation.
(also?) There are some feelings that I have trouble explaining to someone else,
because there are not any specific words for them, so I spend many sentences
(and usually more in response to misinterpretation on the part of the listener)
to convey them. :)
